*Continuing the swatch and review of the Black Sheep Lacquer polishes which I won in a giveaway/contest. Previous post can be viewed here.
Hey guys! Good morning~~ So today I have another of Erin’s gorgeous creations, Luna.
Erin’s description: This nail polish shifts color from a rich gold, to red and then to a violet. It must be painted over a dark base to get this effect.
Look at that duo/multichrome goodness.
My swatches all show Luna, from index finger to ring finger, one coat, over black(yes, the cranky one) and two coats(one thin and medium).
As you can see, this polish starts out rather sheer, with obvious VNL. However, a second medium coat was able to level it all out and give a nice finish. No issues with formula here, although I was initially unused to the size of the brush as it is a mini bottle. Not the fault of this polish though! (:
I did have some difficulties applying this polish in the beginning, as I started out applying 2 thin coats over black and didn’t get decent coverage. Silly me went over one more time with a medium-thick range coat without waiting for everything to dry off, causing some uneven coverage on the middle finger! It didn’t help that my black polish was being cranky and uncooperative too. Thankfully, Seche Vite did smooth out some of the uneven texture.
top coat only applied on middle.
As you can see, without top coat, Luna in itself has a gorgeous shine under light. She(I think of Luna as a female) shows her various colours even without black, with a rose gold/violet shimmer in the foil-like effect of the polish. Over black, that’s where her purple nature comes out to play. The violet is extremely dominant and is simply gorgeous.
< Trying to capture the shifts in colours!
I definitely prefer Luna over black for my skin tone, it’s is more forgiving and doesn’t have an ‘old’ feel which the rose gold/gold-pink/red? gives me. I can see this more on my toes or for accents(also because I have a mini, and want to save the polish). ^^
Formula-wise, like all of Black Sheep Lacquer’s polishes, it is big 3-free. Also, due to the foil like nature of the polish, I do think one needs to be careful when applying. Removal was a breeze for this.
Which would you prefer, Luna on its own or over black?
*Products were won by me and review is my honest opinion. I was not paid by Black Sheep Lacquer to do this review.
